Amazon Go stores now accept cash Posted on 18th April 2019 by Spinnaker Earlier this week Amazon took the decision to accept additional forms of payment at it’s cashier free stores. In addition to the accepted forms of electronic payment, customers can now pay with old-school cash and ‘Amazon Cash’. This allows users to pay cash into their Amazon accounts and so run a balance. Payments can be made at CVS and 7-Eleven stores. Citing concerns about excluding the unbanked and vulnerable members by refusing to accept cash Amazon’s recent change in policy follows rulings by Philadelphia and New Jersey to ban cashless stores, with New York and San Francisco apparently also considering taking such steps. Cashless payments overtook cash payments for the first time in the UK in 2017. However, global trends indicate that cash is still extremely popular and most importantly is accessible for all.
